Kemakta is an independent, personnel-owned consulting company specialising in environmental risk assessment, waste disposal and nuclear technology. In an environmental risk assessment, calculations are carried out to predict the dispersal of contaminants from, for example, a contaminated site or waste deposit. This type of analysis is a useful tool for establishing the environmental status of a site, e.g. in conjunction with the acquisition of industrial sites, in the preparation of applications for various environmental licences as well as in the design of remedial activities and protective barriers in waste deposits.

Kemakta has been performing analyses of the dispersion of contaminants in ground, air and water since 1975. Originally, the work was directed towards the disperson of radioactive substances from repositories for nuclear waste. The knowledge of environmental chemistry, hydrology and physical processes that Kemakta has acquired during these studies has been applied to a wide range of environmental impact assessments, e.g. for mine tailings deposits, coal ash, industrial wastes, contaminated land, contaminated sediments, new industrial establishments.

Kemakta currently has a staff of about 20 chemical engineers, biologists, hydrogeologists and physicists.
The managing director is Bertil Grundfelt and vice managing director is Marie Wiborgh.
